quick wedding update

Well, I'm glad I went! It turned out to be really fun, and I got to spend time with family members that I don't see too often. And although I felt a bit cowardly about it at first, I decided to ignore my estranged brother and his wife completely, and didn't even look at them. In a sense, I didn't even "see" them, except out of the periphery of my eyes. My niece was the first of the next generation to get married, so I'm glad I didn't miss out on the special occasion, and I'm thankful that both parties chose not to air their differences at this event. I imagine there will be time enough for that in the future!

And thanks again, Krissa and Dakota, for keeping me in your thoughts yesterday. I really appreciate it. :)

I'm glad it all worked out for you, and you both avoided each other so that you could have a good time!

I don't understand why your brother would say such things to you. Could it be his wife's influence? One of my cousins (who was more like a brother to me growing up) isn't interested in my life or even seeing me now when I travel back home. I think it's because of his wife, and I can't figure out why she doesn't like me. (Haha. Maybe because she knows I'm on to her and think she's a gold digger, BUT I never said that to ANYONE in my family. That's in my head.) Anyway, I have no doubt in my mind my cousin loves me, but something makes it so he gets mean when he hears from me ... maybe to protect himself from feeling guilty for not seeing me?
Anyway... he isn't estranged from me, I just haven't seen him in about two years; but I thought maybe this story would link to your's if the wife is part of the greater problem. Women are judgmental (even me, with my gold digger accusations! Ha!).

Hope you and Kazumi are well!

Great news! But, should I mention that not only was blogspot having toolbar problems, I couldn't leave comments this morning. ? Well, I can now. And I am happy that it went so well. Your niece and her dad will always appreciate it so much that you were there. :) ... Now, I'll have to try to get on Flickr to see if the photos are up.

Thanks everyone! :)

I don't understand why your brother would say such things to you. Well, I have my own theories, but I'd better not get started here as my reply would probably be too long and too convoluted, snort. But no, I don't think it's his wife influence as such. I mean, she doesn't help, but I think he'd feel the same way regardless. Complicated family and complicated history, and all that.

Your explanation for your cousin's behaviour sounds pretty plausible though. And being mean to you probably makes him feel even less interested in seeing you, so it becomes a kind of vicious cycle. A real pity.
